Counseling Approach
Well done! By visiting my website you’re already taking a step towards improving your self-care (see tools below).
Better self-care is only one of the many benefits that can come from counseling. My approach to therapy first focuses on getting to know you and fully understanding your situation. I want you to feel like you’re speaking with someone that really hears you and does understand what you’re going through. As with every client, I also want to establish a positive relationship between us that encourages growth and change, and where you feel supported. Along the way, we might tackle such common themes as:
- acceptance (of yourself or others)
- reducing judgmental or negative thoughts (especially of yourself)
- developing new and more effective behavioral skills
- learning better ways to communicate and assert yourself
Whatever is bothering you, we’ll work together to find solutions that fit your lifestyle.
TOOLS >
Self-care doesn't come naturally for some people, and it's one of
the skills my clients often work on – simple things like taking a
walk in the park or getting a massage – whatever feels like a treat
to you and is healthy. Why is it important? Because when life gets
overwhelming, people sometimes forget to engage in the things that
make them feel good.
When you make yourself the priority, you have more energy to
challenge your life and make decisions. By letting go of your
stress, even for a while, you’ll learn to make better choices and be
a better version of yourself. Contact me to learn other practical
tools for you.
